Alexander Whitley Dance Company | Overflow

Alexander Whitley Dance Company | Overflow

Alexander’s recent, awe-inspiring production 8 Minutes took audiences on a breath-taking journey to the sun. His company’s new work, Overflow, is a compelling and timely exploration of the human condition in the era of big data, when personal information is used to predict our actions and human behaviour has become the most prized raw material of the economy.
Featuring an exhilarating new score by Ryan Lee West (Rival Consoles), costumes by award-winning designer, Ana Rajcevic and a kinetic light sculpture from Children of the Light with creative technologists Fenyce and designer Guy Hoare.

Alexander was an Associate Artist at DanceEast (2014 -2016) and formerly an Associate at Rambert and is currently a New Wave Associate Artist at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. We have worked with Alexander on many different levels over the years, including dance workshops within schools. Alexander’s work is a great introduction to dance – his innovative approach to choreography and technology is ground-breaking and we are excited to see the possibilities this relationship creates for dance.

DanceEast is so much more than a dance class facilitator and theatre venue. Flick through these pages to find out more about our diverse programme of activities. Artists and professionals are at the heart of our organisation and we are committed to supporting them in various ways; Associate Artist Scheme, Rural Retreats, CPD workshops, Advance Levels Classes, Choreographic Development Fund and much more. DanceEast has been running a range of innovative community projects for over thirty years. We work with a range of partners on local, national and international projects and enjoy introducing people to dance for the first time as much as developing and refining skills in more experienced dancers. We have a great team of hard-working, enthusiastic and DanceEast-loving staff.
